Something I did for Character Design Class. Assignment was to take a game/film/TV show/basically anything and give it a twist. We had to use other artists as a style reference.

I’m doing Monkey Island and the twist is this: Instead of pirates, they are in bike gangs. Guybrush Threepwood is basically a hipster trying to be a badass biker but all he has is a ratty Vespa. LeChuck (the one on the bike in the pic!) is a big, bulky, hairy biker who likes to bully the weak. 

Reference artist I’m using is Greig Rapson, whose work is awesome,wonderful and super awesome. Unfortunately, I’m not doing a very good job of emulating.

My teacher kind of rejected this composition so I have to re-do it. I really like it though, so I don’t know. Maybe I’ll keep it aside and (try my best to) colour it.
